The USS Massachusetts entered service in May 1942 and took part on 8
November 1942 in the battle of Casablanca where she engaged the French
battleship Jean Bart. She then went to the Pacific where she served for
the rest of the war. This volume devotes six pages to Casablanca, with
the rest of the book spent showing her various systems and weapons in
both photos and drawings. Many of the onboard detail photos are shots
of her as she appears today at Battleship
Cove, Fall River, Massachusetts.
Besides the photos there are numerous drawings, line and cutaway, to
show the various pieces of equipment. The rear cover has two colour profiles
of her in Ms12 and Ms22 camouflage. The final touch are a set of 1/350
plans drawn by Tom Walkowiak of the Floating
Drydock showing the external appearance as of 1945
