Windsock International
Volume 20, Number 5
Albatros Publications, ©2004
Softbound, 32 Pages
The latest issue of Windsock International has arrived, and there's
some exciting stuff inside. The most noticeable thing is on the cover,
labeled "On the Set of Hollywood's Latest Epic!" This shows
a lineup of Fokker D.VIIs, which of course led me to turn immediately
to the page that talks about them. I was thinking it was going to be
some great WWI movie, but instead discovered that these aircraft are
from the movie "The Aviator," the movie about Howard Hughes.
While not really a WWI movie, it has lots of aviation in it, including
the movie "Hell's Angels," which all these Fokkers (and an
original Thomas Morse Scout, three full-scale SE-5as, and two 7/8 scale
SE-5as) take part in. This should be a great film when it comes out in
December.
Also included in this issue is a great article on building Spin's 1/48
Ansaldo, by Lance Krieg. Lance does an amazing job on this kit, and the
photos, both in color and in black and white, really show off the large
amount of work he put into this kit. Continuing in the model kit vein,
this issue gives a first look at some of the latest releases, including
the Special Hobby Phonix and the Omega Models Hansa Brandenburg CC. For
other interesting features, the center section has a nice spread on the
aircraft of VC pilot R A J Warneford. A color profile of his Morane Type
L and the M type Zeppelin Warneford destroyed. Finally, there is another
entry in the WWI autochrome color photograph selection.
