Well, the fine folks at HT Model are at it again, this time detailing the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6. This book (with an English language insert) is packed with photos, profiles, and drawings. If you are not familiar with how HT Model does their specials, the general format is to provide a few pages of text detailing the history of the subject. Following this are lots of detail photos and drawings, and the books generally conclude with a series of color profiles. This one is no different….

The coverage is extensive in this book, and is limited only to the Bf 109G-6 variant. This means that the book has plenty of foreign operators in addition to the usual Luftwaffe examples. The detail photos are of restored or museum aircraft for the most part, with some period photos tossed in. A total of 204 color photos and 78 black and white photos in this book's 68 pages gives an idea as to how packed this book really is. The detail photos are comprehensive and leave little unseen.

The drawings in this book are separated into two sections. The first drawing section is detail drawings, many of which are taken from original German manuals. These will be of great value to the modeler, as they show many of the hidden structural details that superdetailers love to render. The second drawing section has scale drawings, in a multitude of views. These appear to be done in both 1/48 and 1/72 scale and are nicely done. Finally, the color profiles offer many interesting examples that I am sure will find their way onto decal sheets in the future. These cover Luftwaffe, Finnish, Swiss, Slovak, Romanian, and many others, including some captured aircraft.

This is a great addition to the Bf 109 library because of the extensive photo coverage. Those who are interested in detailing every corner of their model, this book will show what is missing. The color profiles and period photos offer plenty of inspiration for your next model as well. My thanks to HT Model for the review sample.
