The latest issue of Windsock comes packed with more great material for the WWI modeler. For those interested in cockpits, Bruce Robertson supplied some RAF training manual sketches of large WWI RAF machines, including the late Felixstowe flying boat and the Short 184. Speaking of seaplanes, a set of archive photos shows some Fairey IIIs in Murmansk and Archangel in the immediate post-war period. The French Warplanes in Colour series continues as well, this time a Farman fuselage on a flatbed in 1916. Harry Woodman also makes an appearance with an interesting little article on early Spanish bombers.

Also in the research arena, Bruce Robertson presents his first part on DH9A colors. The article that is complemented by plenty of photos, a set of nice scale drawings by John Alcorn and Doug Carrick (John scratchbuilt a BEAUTIFUL DH9A a few years ago, so he knows his stuff on this type), and a trio of color profiles by our own Bob Pearson on the back cover. This article also includes some notes about service markings as well as factory finishes and also has several detail photos of a restored example. This article alone makes this issue well worth having, and I am looking forward to Part 2.

This is an outstanding issue of Windsock and is well worth picking up. The fascinating WWI color photo series shows much promise in the future, and Bruce Robertson's multi-part article on the DH9A makes this a great issue to start your subscription with. My thanks to Albatros Publications for the review copy.
