The latest issue of Mushroom Model Magazine has some great content for modelers of eclectic subjects. First up is a great article by Carmel Attard that details the history of the Arado Ar 65 in Bulgarian service. Accompanying this short history is a pair of build articles, the first being about building an out-of-box resin kit. The second build takes things up several notches, with a great piece on modeling ingenuity, as the author takes a 1/48 Hawk RC-3 racer and makes it into a 1/72 Arado Ar 65. This article is well worth reading as it might inspire you to try to make something new out of that old kit.

Another great modeling article details the building of Revell's 1948 Ford Woody. Rinus Middelaar really spruces this kit up with real wood panels and a great method for putting airbrushed artwork onto a wheel cover. The author's added details such as a basket and a teddy bear inside the car, and a nice boat on a trailer from an old AMT kit. The finished result is a very attractive Ford Woody.

While modeling is the majority of this magazine, the best part of the publication, at least in my mind, is the great section on the Martin Mars flying boat. A large selection of photos reveal this massive plane in detail not seen before as James Kightly travels to Sproat Lake, British Columbia where the remaining Mars are used as forest fighting aircraft. A nicely written history of the type is further complemented by a great set of 1/144 scale drawings of the aircraft. For those interested in this plane, this is an issue of Mushroom Model Magazine that you will definitely want to track down.

My thanks to Mushroom Model Publications for the review copy. Check out their website for information on this magazine and the great line of MMP books.
