Armored cars have always fascinated me, so when this book showed up
on the doorstep, needless to say I was excited. Upon opening the cover
and thumbing through it, I could see that my excitement was not in vain.
This book, written in Polish with an English summary and dual-language
captions to the photos, does an excellent job of covering the history
of German armored cars from their early beginnings in 1905 through to
the end of the Second World War.
The book follows armored car development chronologically, with most
of the text covering the period from 1932 to 1945, as few armored cars
were developed during the First World War. The types covered include the
Ehrhardt/17, Sd.Kfz. 3, Schupo-Sonderwagen 21, Kfz. 13 & 14, Sd.Kfz.
221/222/223, Sd.Kfz. 231/232/263 6-Rad, Sd.Kfz. 231/232/233/263 8-Rad,
Sd.Kfz. 260, Sd.Kfz. 247, and the Adler Standard 6, among others. The
ones listed above all have scale drawings provided, with some including
sub-types. As well as the excellent drawings there are lots of great photos,
both in black and white and in color, along with a series of color profiles.
The English summary does a good job of briefly covering the history
of German armored cars, but I am sure that the Polish portion goes into
much more depth. Time to brush up on those foreign language skills, I
guess. Overall this is a great book on German armored cars and will be
of great help with building up a collection of vehicles in any scale.
