Condor Decals 1/35 Panzer IV Decals

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

Branching out into armor subjects, this sheet from Condor Decals provides the modeler with lots of options for their Panzer IV model. There are three main groupings of decals on this sheet: Finnish, Syrian, and German. The Syrian example is the simplest, being basically overall Russian green, with Arabic script on the turret. The Finnish options are a bit more exciting. While one is finished in a similar scheme to the Syrian one, being Russian green overall, with Finnish roundels on the turret, the second option is much more interesting. This one has a splinter camouflage of black and white, with black partial swastikas on the turret.

The majority of the sheet, though, is devoted to German Panzer IVs. The instructions illustrate a few examples, one with an interesting striped pattern to the turret, with the name "Grizzly Bear" and a bear emblem on it. Another has a spade on the turret, while a third has a mammoth emblem. Most of the German section, though, consists of two styles of turret numbers, allowing the modeler to build any number of possibilities.

The decals are well printed and appear to be in excellent register. I say appear as it is very difficult to discern the white decal from the white paper. This will require some care in cutting out the white decals so as to not slice pieces off. Other than that, this sheet will be a great addition to any armor modeler's collection.

My thanks to Condor Decals for the review sample. Check out their website for other interesting decal sheets.
