Much of the popularity of NASCAR stock car racing is based on the fact that the cars, while purpose built racing machines, still resemble the cars that the average fan drives everyday. However, in order to achieve parity amongst the various manufacturers and to keep the competition close, current NASCAR racers are regulated by body templates that are moving ever closer to a common body shape for all makes of cars. While keeping the competition close on the track (and on television), without the paint schemes and sponsor markings many fans would have a difficult time distinguishing the various manufacturers products. So to maintain fan interest and also to help the manufacturers (General Motors, Ford and Daimler Chrysler, who spend huge amounts of money supporting NASCAR teams and then in marketing their successes) with brand identification, in the early 1990's teams began applying headlight and taillight stickers on the NASCAR racers. These faux light stickers have become increasing intricate, so that at a glance they look just like the real thing. However, the quality of decals that are included in the current plastic model kits of NASCAR racers have not kept pace. This new release by aftermarket decal manufacturer Just Want to Build a Model helps to remedy that problem. The package contains one 5 x 8 decal sheet, with 58 assorted head and taillights. Also included are 43 assorted grilles and two sets of window trim decals for the latest Revell Dodge Intrepid kits. These can be used to replace the decals on the kit sheets for the following Revell NASCAR kits: 1997+ Chevy Monte Carlo, 2000+ Ford Taurus, 1996+ Pontiac Grand Prix, 2001+ Dodge Intrepid and the 1995+ Dodge Ram race trucks. The decals are printed in Italy by Cartograph, so the quality is excellent. Printing is extremely sharp, and the colors are accurate. These are a marked improvement from the kit sheets. Modelers may also find alternative uses on other types of cars for some of the grille decals. And the window trim decals would eliminate the need to painting the black trim. This sheet is a useful item for those that want a bit more realism than the standard Revell kits offer. And the one sheet can be used for multiple projects. | ||||
