Revell '68 Firebird 400 Ram Air 2 'n 1

By Al Superczynski

Overview

By the mid-sixties the Pontiac Division of General Motors decided they need to add a "ponycar" to their line-up, but not just any ponycar. Their new baby had to be something special. Coming from the Native American word for "action, power, beauty, and youth" the name Firebird summed up the car Pontiac first introduced in 1967. The car was a sensation when it first debuted and one year later it had been tweaked and refined into a car that was ready for great things. Today the Firebird has achieved classic status among car lovers everywhere.

The Kit

Revell does it again. Releasing one outstanding model car kit after another Revell-Monogram has become the premier domestic manufacturer for the car modeler.

Presented in 118 white, clear, and red transparent parts along with the usual "chrome" plated parts and black vinyl tires, Revell's Firebird is a tour-de-force of highly detailed parts with full options for a factory stock machine or a blown drag strip terror. Other parts included for the race version are a base model hood with cutout, roll bar, driver's seat, drag slicks, Torque Thrust wheels, raised rear suspension with traction bars, and straight through exhaust dumps.

This model relegates the old AMT and MPC kits to collector status, being far superior to both in every way. How about a convertible, Revell?
